You will see two options: "楽天会員の方" (If you are a Rakuten member) and "楽天会員でない方" (If you are not a Rakuten member).

• If you already have a Rakuten ID: Click the first option and log in with your Rakuten ID and password. This will automatically fill in most of your information (name, address, etc.).
• If you do not have a Rakuten ID: Click the second option to proceed.

🔹 Step 2: Fill in your personal information (with an example)

You need to fill in your personal information. Many people get confused when entering their name, so follow the example for "Ram Thapa":

• お名前（漢字） - (Name in Kanji):
• Here, enter your name in Kanji if you know it, if not, you can enter it in Katakana.
• 姓 (Sei - Last Name): タパ (Thapa)
• 名 (Mei - First Name): ラム (Ram)
• お名前（フリガ-ナ） - (Name in Katakana):
• Here, you must enter your name in Katakana.
• セイ (Sei - Last Name): タパ (Thapa)
• メイ (Mei - First Name): ラム (Ram)
• お名前（ローマ字） - (Name in Romaji/Alphabet):
• Here, enter your name in Alphabet as it appears on your Zairyu Card.
• Sei (Last Name): THAPA
• Mei (First Name): RAM

Similarly, fill in your date of birth, address, and other information correctly by referring to your Zairyu Card.

🔹 Step 3: Submit identity verification documents

For your identity verification, you must submit a photo of your Zairyu Card or My Number Card. The process is fastest and easiest if you take and upload the photo from the app (おすすめ).

🔹 Step 4: Choose a Cash Card and other services

• キャッシュカードの種類: Choose the type of your Cash Card (ATM card). (It's better to choose a card with JCB/Visa Debit).
• 楽天Edy: Choose if you want the Edy feature.
• 楽天カード: Choose if you also want to apply for a Rakuten credit card (not necessary at first).

📬 Important things to do after receiving the card (初期設定 - Initial Setup)

In about 1-2 weeks, your Cash Card will arrive at your address along with a "Thank You Letter" (サンキューレター). After receiving the card, you must complete the initial setup online to use the account.

🔹 Step 5: Start the initial setup

• Go to the Rakuten Bank website and enter the 支店番号 (Branch Number) and 口座番号 (Account Number) written on your card.
• Log in using the 仮ログインパスワード (Temporary Login Password) provided in the envelope with the card.

🔹 Step 6: Set a new password and PIN

After logging in, you will need to set your new Login Password, ATM PIN (暗証番号), and a secret question/answer (秘密の質問).

Congratulations! 🎉 After doing this, your Rakuten Bank account will be fully operational.

Don't forget the bonus!

After the account is activated, don't forget to deposit 10,000 yen or more into your account by the end of the next month. Once you do this, the points will be credited to your Rakuten account.
